Frequently Asked Questions

As a leading provider of non-emergency medical transportation, we get a lot of questions about transportation services. Allow us to answer some of the most commonly asked questions we receive.

Non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) is a benefit that ensures people without access to transportation can travel to necessary health care appointments. This important service helps manage the health of community members and prevents them from requiring far more expensive forms of care, such as hospitalizations or institutionalization, that would likely result if they missed their appointments.

Hospitals, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Hospices, Rehabilitation Centers, and In-Home Care Services use non-emergency transport to transfer patients, as a safe, cost effective method to transport their residents and patients. The expense of utilizing an Ambulance is significant and unwarranted unless the individual requires life-saving services while in transport.

If community members cannot reliably travel to and from their medical appointments, their overall care will suffer and they will likely end up incurring higher health care costs through hospitalizations and other more intensive services.
